Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur has no shortage of recreation activities and attractions that are suitable for families on holiday to visit. Each place provides an educational glimpse into the world of KL that will keep the children occupied with activities of exploration. Some of these places can be reached easily from LRT Stations, like the KL Lake Gardens, while others, like Genting Highlands, require a longer journey by bus or cab. Tourists who bring along their families will enjoy these destinations.

KL Lake Gardens
The Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, also known as Taman Tasik Perdana, is the city’s primary recreational park for families to enjoy a social outing during the day. The KL Lake Gardens is also a popular tourist spot as it housed several attractions around the park such as the Bird Park, Deer Park, Butterfly Park, Hibiscus Garden, Orchid Garden, Police Museum, National Mosque, National Monument and National Planetarium. The park grounds are roughly about 90 hectares in size, with landscaped gardens, two lakes, jogging paths and playground for children. |

National Museum
The National Museum, or Muzium Negara, is located a short distance away from the KL Lake Gardens, on top a hill at Jalan Travers. The National Museum is a piece of interesting architecture, looking like an massive elongated pyramid with various traditional styles etched into its design. The front of the Museum itself is framed by two large murals that depict Malaysian history in an abstract way. |

National Zoo
The National Zoo, or Zoo Negara, is located near Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. As the country’s national zoo, it has the largest collection of wildlife in captivity with a spacious 100 acre ground. Over 460 species of wildlife from mammals to birds and reptiles to fish are on display here, providing fun and recreation for tourists and families. |

Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is a popular highland retreat for folks from Kuala Lumpur. Located about 40 minutes away by car from KL, Genting Highlands is actually a small township that revolves around a theme park and casino at its peak on a vast mountain range. At almost 1,700 m, the theme park, offering typical attractions such as rides, gaming arcades and candy floss, provides a thrilling adventure opportunity for families and friends on a quick weekend jaunt up the mountains. |
